With the growth of online tools, companies are quickly building products to serve the real estate community. After all, it’s a lucrative industry, home buying and selling will always be a thing - even if it does slow down, and companies around the world are diving in to make as much money off consumers as possible.
What are they selling? The ease. The ease of buying or selling a home online. The catch? You actually don’t benefit from these online quick-sale services. In fact, you could find yourself out of tens-of-thousands in cost difference. If you’re in the market to buy or sell, and are considering foregoing a real estate agent for an online service, be sure you read the fine print. You’ll often times find that you aren’t benefiting at all. Will they buy your home upfront to resale, so you don’t have to worry about the headache? Sure, but you may have been able to get $50,000 more for your house using a Realtor. Can you see and purchase your dream home through said services and “save” on agent commissions? Sure, but you’ll probably be overpaying for the home anyway.
The real estate industry is heavily regulated for licensed professionals to ensure the consumer is always getting the best representation for the best savings. These online services don’t require regulation and licensing, therefore, they can get away with fine print “scams.”
Be sure you do your research. A Realtor is there to make YOU the most money. Quick online services are focused on making their business the most money - not focused on how much you can sell your home for or how much you can save when you buy. Licensed professionals exist for a reason, be sure you don’t lose more than you can afford to by using a gimmicky online service that dubs buying and selling an “easy” process. Any good agent will make the process easy, minus general lending issues that may arise.

Jeff Drayer was born in Wisconsin, but moved at a young age with his two younger sisters and parents, to far North Dallas in 1989, where he’s called home ever since. Jeff graduated from J.J. Pearce High school in Richardson, TX, while playing on the golf team, and went on to complete four years of college at Southern Methodist University, earning a business degree in Management Information Systems, while also being a member of Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity.
Jeff started his career following in his father’s footsteps at Accenture, a technology consulting firm, and then moved on to join a few other technology firms doing contract work. It was during these roles and projects that Jeff’s interest in real estate began and he started out as an investor, buying middle income residential homes in 2006, acquiring 1-2 homes per year and remodeling them, with the goal of holding them long term and creating a steady passive rental income. Jeff took full advantage during the economic downtown of 2008-2012 to add several foreclosure properties to his portfolio, in great neighborhoods across Dallas & Collin Counties. His motto, “Be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful”, has proved to be wise investment advice. He now maintains and manages 8 rental properties, has 1 owner-financed property and also invests passively in commercial real estate ventures with a local real estate investment firm in Dallas that has produced steady returns. In Jeff’s words, “Real estate investment provides the three C’s – Control, Consistency and Cash flow.” Jeff has also gone on to get his real estate sales license to help everyone, including friends, family and current tenants, with their real estate buying, selling and leasing needs. His patience and detailed nature, along with his knowledge of home remodeling, is an asset to his clients.
In his free time outside of real estate, Jeff enjoys working out and playing golf and tennis, along with having a passion for IndyCar & Formula 1 racing. Jeff also likes to spend time with his wife Penelope, who grew up in France and works as a dentist, and their cat Whiskey. Jeff and Penelope both enjoy supporting local charity functions, traveling, dining out and going to Dallas Mavericks and Texas Rangers games. They are also excited to welcome the birth of their first child, a girl, in November 2016.
